After concrete walls are poured, they dry and begin to shrink. This shrinkage will continue for three years or more and sometimes leads to cracks forming in the concrete basement walls. Once a crack forms, continued pressures, such as soil contraction and expansion outside the basement walls, will expand the cracks or cause further cracking and separation. When faced with a problem that is going to evolve, you need a solution that can change with it: a long-term solution that is flexible enough to fix the crack even as the wall moves.
