The Great Plains Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief provider and only food bank in the state of North Dakota. They provide food for over 11 million meals annually, for the more than 94,000 people in their service area (ND and Clay County, MN) that struggle with hunger (38% are children and 12% are seniors). The Great Plains Food Bank operates or supplies 215 charitable feeding programs in 113 communities across North Dakota and Clay County in Minnesota. Their massive warehouse hold up to 53 semi-loads of food at a time and their fleet of six reefer trucks put on 500,000 miles each year to transport that food across the state.
96% of the $22 million dollars' worth of food is donated each year with more than 5,500 volunteers. The food bank can provide three meals for each dollar donated. Here are a few additional statistics:
Their mission is "To end hunger through community partnerships." The Great Plains Food Bank has four key partners: food industry donors, financial supporters, volunteers and partner agency networks.
Innovative Basement Systems Team members are proud to be a key partner by volunteering at the Great Plain Food Bank. Last Friday, December 1st, four of our Fargo Team members volunteered to fill backpack bags for the backpack program. This program supplies and distributes food for children to take home over the weekend, when other food resources may be limited. The packs offer kid-friendly food items including milk, juice, snacks and food for four meals to equip children with nutrients to learn and grow. On average about 1600 backpacks get handed out weekly to approximately 16 different schools. Team Innovative was able to fill 207 bags during their time at Great Plains!
Please join Team Innovative in becoming a key partner with Great Plains Food Bank - together, we can do the most good.
